With immense sadness, we bid farewell and accompanied Roberto Chelo on his final journey — beloved husband, father, uncle and patron of Il Portolano for over 25 years. The funeral was held on September 16th in Padria, his cherished hometown.
For all of us, Roberto was much more than a restaurant manager: he was a mentor sharing his knowledge, charm, and love for his work and life with all the staff, his family, friends and guests.
For him, Il Portolano was not just a restaurant but a lifelong mission, a place where he poured his passion and dedication until his very last day.
We have decided to reopen our doors and finish the season, certain that this is what Roberto would have wanted. We will welcome our guests with his spirit, knowing he watches over us with his ever-present smile. We will remain open until October 27, 2024
